Find it very hard to have an open, non-monogamous relationship when trying to be discrete and yet still develop the right kind of closeness with another person or people. It is nice to find a forum where at least it can be discussed. Anyone else frustrated in this way?

I think it is going to be difficult, but hopefully, the knowledge gained from this website will help you and others. Anything out of the social "norm" is difficult.

It is always difficult when you have others in your life everyone else doesn't know about. You just try to find what works for you.

What is worse, I think, is not being able to spend the time with them because no one else knows

I don't think that should stop you from spending time with them. It's not like you are going to be making out or having sex in front of your friends and family...I hope. Just friends spending time with eachother. Isn't that what significant others are for? Friendship?

Yeah I agree with Jaykp454 spending time together having lunch or dinner or just hanging out that doesn't involve sex. And of course not crawling on each other around other ppl lol. I don't condone cheating so if you have a wife or s/o meeting a 3rd is not going to be ideal for relationships. Like I am poly and I don't want just a hook up I want to be able to spend time with them and get to know them outside of sex.
